10 Budget Friendly Activities for College Students

At college, there will be several opportunities to get out and enjoy what your campus has to offer, but other times, you and your roommates will just want to find something to do in your dorm room. So what can you do?

There are so many ways to take advantage of that rainy day or lazy Sunday.  Whether you are a freshman or senior, you can definitely find a way to have fun in your dorm room or apartment.

Arts & Crafts

There are endless amounts of crafts that you and your roommates can make. My suggestion is to take a look at Pinterest and find something unique that you all are interested in creating. For some ideas, check out the “Activities To Do” board on our Pinterest page! “Activities To Do” Board

Movie Marathon

One of the most relaxing activities you can do with your roommates is to watch a movie or television series. Movies will always be a great way to spend a lazy day in your dorm.

If you’re looking for a comedy, I suggest Bridesmaids or Step Brothers; if you want an action movie, look into The Avengers or Skyfall; and lastly, if you’re looking for a romantic comedy, check out Crazy, Stupid, Love. or This Is 40.

Baking/Cooking

I always enjoy the time I spend making an elaborate dinner or special dessert with my roommates. All of the hard works pays off in the end when you get to taste your delicious masterpiece. As a suggestion, you can’t go wrong with some traditional chocolate chip cookies!

Wii games

Wii offers several multi-player games such as: Just Dance, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Zumba Fitness Core, Disney Games, Sports, etc. So, there are so many different types of interactive games for you and your roommates to explore. The personal favorite in our apartment is Dance Central 3.

Exercise

Piggybacking off my last suggestion, you can also do some workout videos with your roommates. Several programs and videos are available on YouTube or other DVDs. My recommendations are to check out Yoga, P90x, and Insanity.

Girl Time

Sometimes, a typical girl’s night or afternoon is the perfect way to relax. Grab some nail polish, snacks, and magazines and you’ll be guaranteed a good time with your girls. This type of bonding time is perfect for a weekend night!

Video Games

This option is probably the most popular among college boys, however, that doesn’t mean all college students can’t enjoy them. Video games are a great way to escape from your hectic schedule and get competitive. However, I don’t suggest playing these video games for an extended period of time.

Impromptu Dance Party

I can’t speak for all college students, but I know that at least in my apartment,  music=dance party. Once the music is on, my roommates and I love to just dance around our room. I can promise you’ll have fun with this one.

Card Games

This may seem to be an outdated activity with the rising amount of games that technology offers, but it’s still a great way to relax with friends. You and your roommates can play typical card games with a regular deck of cards (go fish, blackjack, poker, etc.) or whip out the Apples to Apples for a modern card game. That game is sure to make you laugh!

Make a Collage

Guys and girls can take advantage of a day inside the dorm to make a collage. Find some posters or magazine pages and turn that blank wall into a piece of art
