College Fashion Tips: Look Stylish Everyday of the Week

I’m going to be straight up with you, fashion in college is almost non-existent. As the days in the semester go by, your desire to get up, let alone get dressed, decreases.

But, on the days you do have the time and energy to look into your closet and make a cognitive decision, here are my tips on how to look like you really tried.

So there you are, Monday morning. It’s been a long (but not long enough) weekend and you aren’t even close to feeling ready to face the week. My number one advice for feeling stylish and awake is to throw on something bright. I doesn’t matter what color it is, as long as it is bright, bold, and might force someone to put sunglasses on when looking at you.

If bright clothing isn’t your thing, try accessorizing with some bright shoes. This is a more subtle way to let people know you are ready to get the week started.

Sometimes I forget Tuesday’s exist. They sort of just feel like a placeholder before you get halfway done with your school week. You are realizing that you still have a ways to go so you suck it up and just go with it. This is when you throw on your favorite plain t-shirt and jacket combo. Casual but not too casual. I prefer a nice leather jacket, but any number of items would work.

You’ve made it half way through your school week! This is a time for celebration. You are almost at the home stretch. Whip out your favorite pair of jeans and shoes. It’s not always about the top, your pants need some lovin’ too. And nothing feels better than strutting around in your most treasured kicks.

Now you really are on the home stretch. Thursdays can either drag out a really long time or fly by. For your sake, I hope it ends up being the latter. But for either occasion, Thursdays should be fancy. Some people aren’t into dressing up too much but the occasional day to look your best is refreshing. Whip up your favorite button up, skirt, or blazer. Just make yourself feel like a million bucks.

You’re free! Today is the final day for your school week. If you haven’t completely shut down by now, take a gander into your dresser and pick out a comfy outfit to reward yourself for all of your hard work. I prefer a nice band t-shirt and hat. But anything you feel comfortable in, go for it.

Today is for oversized sweaters, big t-shirts, and anything really easy. I’m a big fan of thrifted big sweaters for the weekends. Throw on a pair of jeans and a sweater and you have yourself an easy outfit. I think of the weekends as the days you can cheat and wear something with no effort. Hoodies are also a good option if you prefer something more fitted.

Here is my advice for Sunday; do what you want. If you really did put effort into your outfits all week, you deserve a free pass. Break out the sweatpants, yoga pants, pajamas, or whatever you feel most comfortable in. Make yourself some tea and just enjoy your last day off.

It all comes down to personal preference. If you want to wear sweats everyday of the week, go for it, you won’t be the only one with that idea! Wear what makes you feel the best about yourself, no matter what that might look like. As long as you’re wearing clothing, you’ll be set for the week.
