Fun Off-Campus Ideas

Do you feel like you’re caught in the ‘college bubble’? Like you’ve barely left campus since you’ve arrived? Looking for something new and exciting in your local community? You are not alone.

For some college students, finding the motivation or the means to look for activities off campus is a struggle. While I’m not trying to knock any of the great things any student can find to do on a college campus, there is such a thing as simply not getting out enough.

At my school, it is a running joke that students are inexorably caught in the “campus bubble”. Many students rarely venture out into the local community, only leaving for mundane activities such as grocery shopping, going to the doctor, etc.

One of the great parts about going away to college is getting to know a whole new area. During the last four years, I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve spent exploring local state parks, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and fun volunteer opportunities though organizations not affiliated with my school. If I had not taken the time to do these things, my college experience would not have been what it is today.

If you’re looking for ideas on how to break away from your daily routine on campus and try something new, check out the video below.
