Internship Program Overview

Job Description

We seek interns who are interested in sharing their college experience through writing or creating video blogs for our site. Interns should be willing to write or post videos about topics such as: planning for college, preparing for standardized exams, selecting a college, applying for college, paying for college, and freshman year of college.

Job Responsibilities

Bloggers (no positions currently available)

  • Work closely with a professional blogger to write 2 blog posts per week. Each blog post must be at least 600 words.
  • Conduct research for blog posts, including reading other blogs, conducting interviews, asking questions on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, etc.
  • Comment on 2 blog posts written by other interns.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Video Bloggers (no positions currently available)

  • Work closely with a professional blogger to create 2 video blogs per week. Each video blog will contain a video (between 2-3 minutes long) and an introduction to that video (of at least 200 words).
  • **Below are a couple examples of blogs containing videos, so you can get a feel for what the format would look like:
  • Write scripts, set up computer equipment, lights and any other equipment needed to film and produce videos.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.

Please note: We will own the rights to all videos and they will be added to our YouTube channel.

Job Requirements

Bloggers

  • Current college student
  • English, communications, journalism and related majors preferred, but not required
  • Passion for blogging and writing
  • Good writer, team player, and technologically savvy
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Skype is a plus
  • Upcoming internships:
    • no upcoming positions are available at this time
  • Academic credit is accepted, but not required to apply

Video Bloggers

  • Current college student
  • Film, video, cinematography, and related majors preferred, but not required
  • Passion for producing video content
  • On-air look and persona that would engage students
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Skype is a plus
  • Minimum 3-month commitment (but longer if you’d like!)
  • Academic credit is accepted, but not required to apply

Benefits

  • Unpaid part-time internship
  • Work remotely on your own computer
  • Time commitment is only 5-10 hours per week, unless you have more time than that!
  • We’re flexible – write the posts or create videos whenever you have time during the week
  • Learn about the blogging culture and a bit about social media from someone knowledgeable!
  • Upon completion, you can create a portfolio of your published work
