Top Reasons to Get a College Degree

Earning a college degree is one of the surest ways to increase your potential to make more money after graduation.  There are a lot of possible fields and majors to consider, some paying more than others, but as a general rule, college graduates earn more over the course of their lifetime than those who do not have a college degree.

By nature, our world consistently demands more from its citizens.  We have to be able to hold intelligent conversations with others that can go deeper than the score in last night’s basketball game.  Companies desire to hire employees who are well-rounded and exemplify all of the great things that a 4-year degree has to offer.

This is why those students who worked hard for an associated degree are being passed up by employers for those students who have earned a more “complete” education.

Even if you have been out of high school for a while now, there is still time to get back into school and seek a college degree.  Today, colleges and universities have a variety of different options available for those individuals who desire to get back into school.

In fact, they have even developed a new term for these types of students – non-traditional students.  Given the current economic crisis, we are seeing more and more adults returning to school to obtain the education that they did not receive the first time around.

This is great news!  A lot of schools are offering additional night classes and weekend classes to accommodate these students.

Also, with the rise of online courses, we are seeing even more flexible schooling opportunities for working adults.  This helps college degree seeking adults balance their careers, family, and education.

As the online college sector becomes more and more popular, we will begin to see even more programs and courses being offered online.

So, if you are considering going to college, then there is no time like the present.  Not only will a college degree give you greater earning potential over the course of your lifetime, but you may also qualify for promotions within your company.

Just think about it…what do you have to lose?  Obtaining a college education is something that only a small percentage of the population ever gets around to completing.  Therefore, it is a huge accomplishment!

You really can’t go wrong with a college education – you increase your earning potential, promotion potential, and gain the ability to be able to compete with your peers.  So, what are you waiting for?

You can start the college brainstorming process RIGHT NOW by asking yourself the following 5 questions:

  • 1. What do I like to do?
  • 2. What profession(s) fits well with my likes?
  • 3. What type of degree do I need to get into the profession identified above?
  • 4. What colleges offer this degree?
  • 5. How soon can I apply?
